Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
