Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
