Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and couches raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
