Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
