Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
