Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
