Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
