Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
