Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
