Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
