Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
