Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
