Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
