Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
