Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
