Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
