Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
