Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
