Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
