Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
