Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
