Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
