Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
