Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
