Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
