Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
