Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
