Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
