Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
