Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
