Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
