Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
