Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and outspread carpets. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
