Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
