Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and couches raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
