Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
