Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
