Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
