Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
