Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
