Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
