Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
