Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
