Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
