Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
