Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
