Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
