Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
