Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
