Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
